TechForum Consulting

A new brand and a professional, easy-to-manage website for a busy consultant.

Christine Nicometo, the founder of TechForum Consulting, is an executive communication consultant. She helps executives, senior engineers and technical managers bring out their character and broadcast their substance.

Her clients are typically large industrial corporates in the U.S. Midwest, such as John Deere, Boeing and 3M.

Non-existent visual branding

There was no brand cohesiveness between her website site and the visual language she was using in her client communications. The content on the site was outdated and no longer reflected the work, value and level of expertise Christine was bringing to her clients.

She needed a new website to crisply articulate TechForum Consulting’s value proposition through aligned branding, messaging and service offerings.

An old, broken Wordpress website

Her old Wordpress website, built by a friend when she first started out was difficult to manage, limited in functionality and plagued with security issues. Christine was busy. She didn’t have the bandwidth or desire to deal with managing website hosting or security issues. It was critical that her new website be easy to use, manage and edit.

What we did

Lock in messaging and a visual brand

I conducted three interviews with Christine and reviewed existing work artefacts to understand her clients, her offering and her values. Much of this work served as the basis for developing her new visual brand.

Christine liked her logo and wanted to keep it; it appeared on her collateral and her clients associated it with her business., but it needed an upgrade. I gave it a more intentional design with new typesetting and a more organic, proprietary looking icon.

Finally, Christine needed a new set of dynamic, professional images to capture the spirit of the experience she brings to her clients.

I researched and sourced a local photographer. The goal for the photography was to express Christine’s brand by capturing both her professionalism and approachability. I created a brand photoshoot briefing document which included a shot list and visual direction to insure we’d get the right set of images for the site.

I remotely assisted with the photoshoot set-up, and created a layout for the new website based on the resulting images.

New website copy

Once the messaging was dialed in (‘Be Heard’ ), Christine and I worked collaboratively to create her new website text. I also had Christine come up with the basis for two stories that showcased the transformative results she consistently delivers her clients. I recorded our conversation and crafted two case studies from the interview.

Build and launch the new site and close down the old one

Finally I closed down the old TechForum Wordpress site. Aside from a few questions and login requests, I was able to do so with a minimum of input from Christine.

The Result

“Relaxed and Empowered”

“You were so flexible about my hectic schedule and lack of planning, I knew this revision was going to be less my problem to manage than yours (which is EXACTLY what I wanted to pay someone for!)

I’m glad to have a more representative website now that seems to run without issue. I feel empowered, but also relaxed about the site now.

I appreciate all the supports you provided for me to do my own ‘self-help’ for the website. I really enjoyed working with you and would do so again.”
