1 Day Website -Figure Out Your Website MVP to get Online FAST.

A starter one day website is the best way to get your business online fast and just get you live with something you can build on.

Not Most Valuable Player. MVP is start-up world jargon for Minimum Viable Product. The official definition:

A minimum viable product (MVP) is a version of a product with just enough features to satisfy early customers and provide feedback for future product development.

What that means is: What is the most stripped down version of a product you can get out on the market as quickly as possible? This is usually meant for apps or software. The concept is also helpful if you’re thinking about launching a new website.

Launching a site can be overwhelming. You need copy, imagery, a website structure and more (see my post on the five things you should have ready before hiring a web designer).

Right now, however, we are not living in ordinary times. We are in the middle of a global pandemic. Suddenly the entire planet has shifted a substantial portion of life online.

You can’t go to networking events and tell someone about your work, or show them images on your phone. There are no craft fairs. Your gallery show is suspended indefinitely and all the retailers that purchase your work wholesale are closed. If you don’t have a website you are stuck.

Networking and discovery is happening online and you have nowhere to send potential customers. What’s your minimum viable product for getting a website online NOW? A couple of examples:

  1. If you want to open your own online store, you don’t have to launch your entire product catalog now. A Shopify storefront with a handful of your best sellers and an about page is enough. Cross-sell and upset plug-ins and a blog can come later. Just give your customers something to buy.

  2. If you offer a service that you’ve been selling via referrals, now is the time to launch a simple one page website that highlights you and your service with a newsletter opt-in. You can more pages and things like a blog later.

  3. If you want to showcase your work, include a portfolio slideshow on your one page website.

You get the idea.

To get started you’ll need a business name, a domain and a URL and whatever content and imagery you’ve got.

You can fine tune your brand and build it out later, but for now just get online!

Social media accounts alone won’t cut it, because you don’t own them. Instagram and facebook can (and do) change their algorithms.

You control the content on your website and your mailing list (Email marketing is experience unbridled success right now). You can and should use any social media accounts to direct people to your website.

If you’re thinking about launching a new website and the MVP concept sounds good to you, get in touch and see if which one of my Squarespace website design packages is right for you.
