Lisa Maresa Shopify Makeover
BEFORE
AFTER
I’m lucky to have so many talented friends. Lisa, a jewellery designer, and I met through my daughters day care.
We often chatted about business in the 3 minute chunks that following your kids around at the playground allows. I was surprised to find that she ran her entire business on wholesale orders. It’s easy to forget that there is an entire world of business that takes place offline!
Enter Covid-19.
Almost overnight, with the help of her IT expert husband, Lisa got a Shopify store online. It was impressive.
I was looking at her site, trying to find some earrings when I realised I could only browse her catalog through her different design collections, not by product type. I knew there was a pretty straightforward fix.
I was itching to get under the hood of Lisas Shopify store*.
With her permission I made some changes. I swapped out the theme, configured it to align with her branding. Lisa had some lovely imagery so I created a hero image slide. Now when visitors arrives at her site, bam! they get an enticing feel for all the stylish bling Lisa Maresa has on offer.

Lastly, I added a sub navigation drop down menu based on product. This way customers can also search the store by product type: earrings, necklaces, etc.
This isn’t just about making Lisas online store prettier. A well-designed, on brand online shop makes customers think: ‘I belong here’. Instead of just an online jewellery shop, the customer arrives at an intentional website that showcases the product in a way that makes her more likely to buy. This is about increasing sales.
Lisa is at the beginning of her eCommerce journey. Now she doesn’t just have an online shop, she has an online shop that wows. An online shop that makes the browsing experience easier and more appealing to her customer base.
As Germany reopens she’s got a bunch of pent up demand and so has to refocus on fulfilling wholesale orders. However, Covid-19 was a push many needed to finally get their businesses online.
This is a dilemma many creative business owners face. You probably do too. You need to focus on creating your product or offering your service, who has time to be an online marketer?!?
I know. I really do. I struggle with this too. But this is the world we are living in. We won’t be in a Pandemic forever. But if you sell products, having an online shop is one more revenue stream in an uncertain world.
You can launch a web shop without having to do #allthethings. You can start with a few products, start collecting emails, maybe slowly start blogging (once a month is fine at first).
Even if you have a full time small business, you can run your eCommerce and nurture it a long slowly but consistently as a kind of side hustle. Slow and steady will win the race and help you avoid overwhelm and tech headaches.
Shopify is really good for this, they do one thing, and do it well. With my previous business, I went through many, many eCommerce platforms before I finally landed at Shopify*. It was the online store platform of my dreams. It’s super easy to use and it grows with you.
If you’re thinking about launching an online store, take a look at my Shopify set-up service. It’s a quick way to get yourself an online shop and it includes a one on one session where I show you the ropes. You’ll be flying in no time.
