Word of the Year for 2024: EASY

I’ve abandoned doing big end/beginning of year goals and planning exercises. I’ve noticed over the years that these plans and goals are obsolete by March.

One thing that does remain relevant is a word for the year. Last year’s word was ‘Collaborate’

I still remember it, and can point to actions I’ve taken guided by the word. A networking group, starting (and continuing) a directory of complimentary creative businesses in Germany and my podcast.

These actions have contributed to creative gratification in my work, clients and profits.

My word of the year for 2024: ‘Easy’

I can overthink everything and make things too complicated. I’ve started asking myself ‘What’s the easy way to do this?’ and will continue to do so through 2024.

I’m still working out exactly how this will look, but I know one of the first places I will start is with my systems, which have been a hot mess in 2023. I’ve been attempting to reduce and streamline my tech stack - there is no way this could not be messy, but it has also meant a lot of manual doing of things and that has been hard.
